By far the #1 question I get from people who have read my “How to Verify Your Google+ Brand Page with Google” post is “So will this get me that check mark next to my brand’s name?”
Until now I had to answer…probably not. There was no way to ask for the check mark that shows Google recognizes the page as the “official” page of the brand. It was a boon Google only bestowed upon the brand “1%.”
But now almost anyone can approach the throne and receive the coveted Google check mark.
There are still a few qualifications:
- Your Google+ page must be authorized by your commercial entity, organization, brand, or product.
- Your Google+ page’s profile must contain a link to your organization’s website.
- Your organization’s website must connect to your Google+ page, by adding the Google+ badge or by adding a snippet of code.
- Over 1000 people must have added your Google+ page to their circles.
If you you can leap those hurdles, the only thing left for you to do is to complete the Google+ page verification request. You must also scan and include some documentary proof of your association to the business (such as a bank statement, business license, or utility bill).
Once you have that coveted check mark, be sure and get it framed. And send it to Mom. She’ll be so proud!
Then how can a regular user get a Verified Google page ?
Carolan,
By “regular user” do you mean a verified Google+ personal profile? At this point those are still only doled out by Google on an “as needed” basis, which pretty much means just celebrities or other very public figures. Some of us (yours truly included) got verified Google accounts several years ago as part of Google’s now-defunct Knol program, and Google allowed those verifications to be grandfathered in to our Google profiles, as long as we never change the name on our profiles.
